A Deep Dive into a Classic Majlis Design in Abu Dhabi
The client’s vision for their 900sqm villa in Abu Dhabi was clear: to create an interior that was both luxurious and truly distinctive, taking full advantage of the grand, high ceilings. Our primary goal was to develop a design that exuded timeless elegance. This naturally led us to a classic majlis design in Abu Dhabi, where intricate details and craftsmanship could truly shine.
However, several challenges stood in our way. The entrance corridor was dominated by a wall of dark, outdated wooden balusters that created a poor first impression. Furthermore, a solid wall separating the majlis from the corridor made the primary seating area feel confined. Our mission was to resolve these structural and aesthetic issues, transforming the entrance and majlis into a seamless, open, and breathtaking space that centered around a stunning, hand-painted focal point.

Grand Ceilings: Custom ceiling panels featuring classic detailing and mirror work not only highlight the impressive height but also create a luxurious, light-filled atmosphere.
Bespoke Artwork & Paneling: A hand-painted mural transforms the entrance into a gallery-like space, while classic wall paneling with handcrafted ornamentation adds depth and texture throughout the majlis.
Balanced Color Palette: The strategic use of light tones and sophisticated shades of green masterfully balances the dark wood elements, making the entire area feel brighter, larger, and more inviting.
Curated Classic Furniture: Each piece of furniture was carefully selected to align with the classic theme, ensuring a cohesive and elegant design that is both beautiful and functional.
Our Approach & Solution
Our approach centered on a sophisticated classic theme, meticulously curated to elevate the villa’s inherent grandeur. To tackle the high ceilings, we designed and implemented exquisite mirror work within the classic ceiling ornamentation, strategically enhancing the reflection of light and creating an incredible sense of volume and space.
To balance the client’s existing dark brown doors, we introduced a refined color palette with soft shades of green. This not only softened the heavy tones but also added a layer of fresh elegance to the space. For the entrance wall, the outdated balusters were removed and replaced with a bespoke, hand-painted artwork, establishing a powerful and artistic focal point. We further embraced the classic style by designing detailed, handcrafted paneling for the walls. Finally, the wall between the majlis and corridor was removed, resulting in a magnificent, open-plan area furnished with curated classic pieces that perfectly complemented the overall concept.
